Supporting school snow days since 1886
At the Saint Paul Toboggan Club, our mission is to promote social connections through active social events during the winter months.
Instead of having all the different competing clubs as was customary in the late 1800's, we are looking to unite under one brand name for the whole city while showing pride for the neighborhood we each connect with and represent.
This is meant to be our family's way to promote the winter and create a lasting memory for our children.
It all began one day as our Dad came home with a ten foot Northland toboggan. From there, childhood memories of sledding at Town and Country were created.
Then as time went by, we wanted to develop a quirky way to get the old toboggan out. So we had some custom apparel made and created the idea of the club.
15 years later, it was time to make this more official. So the brand, the website, new apparel, and more toboggans were acquired.
Founded in 1886, the Nushka marching club was a member of the Saint Paul Winter Carnival. This club would embrace the winter outdoors with snowshoeing, tobogganing, and general revelry. They were thrown out of the carnival due to rowdiness and subsequently founded the Town and Country Club.
Town & Country Club was more of a social organization inspired by the clubs in Saint Paul that were formed as a nucleus of the annual Winter Carnival. A residence on Lake Como was the first clubhouse in 1887. The Club moved to its present home at the Marshall Avenue Bridge on the Mississippi River in 1890. Today, this “country club” is in the heart of the Twin Cities metropolitan area, but in 1890, it was in the boondocks of Saint Paul.

No, this is meant to be a social club that celebrates our seemingly never ending winters.
Meetings are determined based on snow and hill conditions and then promoted out to a mailing list or posted online.
Owning and or using a toboggan is not a requirement. We simply want to promote the old history of tobogganing while writing a new one. We will have toboggans to lend at our runs.
In the north, it is the long wooden sled. In the south, it is a winter knit hat. In looking at the logo there is homage paid to both items, two toboggans crossing, and a winter pom hat that also represents the Saintly capital city.
